WELCOME
We exist to be a world-class university; one that makes a difference to the world, through transformational education, research and innovation. But to do great things, it takes more than good intentions.our ambitious mission, our vision for bringing it to life, and the values that define the way we work, collaborate and behave. We’ve already made giant leaps towards our goals – we’re developing our campus and becoming a more sustainable university, and the strategies and plans.
We aim to build a culture of openness and trust that allows for honest reflection and difficult conversations about race and acknowledges that racial inequalities exist. Both our Vision and Strategy are ambitious – and with good reason. We are on the rise. In 2017, we were awarded TEF Gold – the highest rating for teaching quality. In 2019, we were awarded £5.8 million by Research England to develop our plastics research – the largest single research award in the University’s history.
From childcare and sports facilities to teaching spaces and laboratories, we’re investing in our facilities to improve the experience we deliver to our students, academic and researchers, our partners in business, and the local community. Off campus, we’ve developed facilities in partnership with other businesses and organisations – including the Southern Water treatment plant, the Harwell Science and Innovation Centre in Oxfordshire, and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France.
