General English Course

Students on this course will receive high-quality teaching of grammar, skills, pronunciation and functional language. Our course is prepared using published resources, real-life case studies, role-plays and other classroom tasks.

Course Objectives

This course is designed for all students, elementary to proficiency, looking to improve their understanding of the English language in a multi-lingual learning environment.

All lessons at all English levels are based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). The objectives for each language level are as follows:

A1 students can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases:

A2 students can understand sentences and frequently used expressions and can converse in a simple way about familiar subjects:

B1students can understand the main points on familiar topics and can talk about most subjects that arise:

B2 students can understand the main ideas of difficult topics and can speak with a good amount of fluency:

C1 students can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and can communicate verbally with ease.

On or before arrival all students will take an English language test, and will then be placed in a class suitable for their level.

There are weekly tests to assess your progress in grammar, vocabulary and the four main skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.

  • Grammar
  • Vocabulary including phrasal verbs
  • Speaking, reading, writing, listening
  • Pronunciation and phonology
  • Idiomatic language
  • Learning tasks including presentations and role-plays

This course is open to students from elementary to upper-intermediate. The previous study is not necessary, but this will influence the level that you achieve when you join the school.

Timetable and Fees

Lessons run mornings and afternoons. Courses are either 15, 20 or 25 hours per week. Lessons are three, four or five hours per day in the morning or in the afternoon. Maximum class size for all lessons is 16 students. There is a registration fee of £60 and a coursebook fee of £40.
